It had been five straight starts that the Angels were shutout when Ervin Santana started a game. That wasn’t the case Wednesday night as they jumped all over Carl Pavano and beat the Twins, 6-2 at Target Field.
Pavano gave up five runs, four earned on ten hits in just four innings of work. It’s the first time he’s failed to pitch at least six innings this season.
Santana, meanwhile, pitched a terrific ballgame. He pitched into the eighth inning en route to his first win of the year (1-6).
Minnesota scored runs on an RBI groundout by Danny Valencia and a solo home run from Josh Willingham, his team-leading sixth long ball of the season.
The Twins will begin a four game series against the Blue Jays Thursday at Target Field.
