Hall of Famer Rod Carew won’t let a September heart attack stop him from getting to TwinsFest at Target Field next weekend.
The team announced on Friday that Carew was feeling good enough to attend he event, but he won’t be able to sign autographs.
According to the Star Tribune, it will be Carew’s first public appearance since the heart attack.
Carew has been a mainstay of the event over the years. But after suffering the heart attack he had a left ventricular assist device surgically implanted to help maintain his heart’s pumping as he awaits a possible heart transplant.

Instead Carew will help announce a major initiative for the Twins next Saturday in the Legends Club at Target Field. Then on Sunday, he will hold a 30-minute question-and-answer session with fans at 1 p.m.
Carew will also help raise money for the Twins Community Fund by hosting two VIP meet-and-greets with fans who win an online bidding contest.
Fans can vote at www.twinsbaseball.com/twinsfest. Bidding will close on Thursday at 9 p.m. The experience will be for two people and includes two autographs and two photos with Carew.
TwinsFest will be held at Target Field from January 29-31.
