Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is spending his Saturday in his hometown of Palestine, Texas for the 10th annual Adrian Peterson Day.
It’s a special day for the city considering just two months ago the town was hit with a massive flood that destroyed homes and killed six people, including four children.
Peterson partnered with the Red Cross and immediately stepped in, sending trucks of food and water while matching donations as well. Even Peterson’s teammates pledged their support.
The former MVP told Ben Goessling of ESPN that over $200,000 has been raised so far.

The annual celebration consists of a parade through downtown, a picnic, and a dance contest in which Peterson will serve as a judge.
