So why did Adrian Peterson bench himself in Houston as the Vikings were on a key fourth-quarter drive?
He says he was hurt, didn’t want to be selfish and figured Toby Gerhart could finish it off.
Gerhart did, and scored a touchdown.
Talking with reporters today, Peterson says he still has a sore abdomen — but it won’t keep him out of Sunday’s Vikings-Packers game.
As for breaking Eric Dickerson’s rushing record, Peterson says “deep down” he feels he can do it.
He needs 208 yards to get there.
