Deservedly so, Aaron Rodgers has the NFL world drooling over his ability and moxie after he led Green Bay to a 24-23 come-from-behind win against the Bears on Sunday night, doing so without being able to put much weight on his left leg.
Rodgers was carted off the field with a knee injury in the second quarter before miraculously returning to the game in the third quarter and rallying the Packers from a 20-0 deficit to win. After the game, Rodgers vowed to play in a revenge game against he Vikings in Week 2.
“Oh, I’m playing next week,” Rodgers told NBC’s Michelle Tafoya after the game, and reiterated the point during his postgame press conference.
“This is what we’re paid to do,” Rodgers said, via the Green Bay Press Gazette. “We’re paid to deal with injuries and play through ’em. That’s what everybody is doing and will be doing throughout this season. That’s the measure of a teammate, is what are you willing to put on the line for your team. And, to me, it’s a no-brainer.”
The Week 2 border battle at Lambeau Field will be a revenge game for Rodgers, whose 2017 season was essentially ended when Anthony Barr hit him and broke his collarbone at U.S. Bank Stadium on Oct. 15.
But the fact that Rodgers is hobbled gives Minnesota’s defense the early advantage, simply because one of the game’s most dangerous on-the-move quarterbacks is hobbled, and likely will be against the reigning No. 1 defense in the league.
