A collection of Twins players are getting some serious fan support to start in this year’s All-Star Game in Cleveland.
The MLB released the first wave of voting results with C.J. Cron, Jason Castro, Jorge Polanco, Eddie Rosario and Nelson Cruz in position to move on from the primary round of voting.
Most impressively, Polanco is the leading vote-getter among all shortstops, ahead of more household names like Carlos Correa, Xander Bogaerts and Gleyber Torres.

As pointed out by Sarah Langs of MLB.com, Polanco would be just third Twins player to start in an All-Star Game since 2002 (Joe Mauer and Torii Hunter being the others) and he’d be the first Twins shortstop to do so since 1979 when Roy Smalley started.
This year’s voting system is different from years past. First, there’s a primary election, where the top three vote-getters at each position (except for outfield which is top nine) are named and will advance to the starters election. The primary voting ends on June 21 and then a 28-hour voting period on June 26 will determine the starters.
There’s a few ways fans can vote. They can vote through MLB.com, Twinsbaseball.com, MLB At Bat or on MLB Ballpark apps.
Or, fans can vote for any player via a Google search – as long as you’re signed into a gmail account – by simply typing in a player’s name.
The Twins’ record for most players sent to the All-Star Game was in 1965 – which was played at Met Stadium – when they had six players represent the team.
