The Minnesota Twins looked strong in their 2020 Target Field debut, using a five-run second inning to fuel a 6-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.
The Twins got off to another fast start – just as they did in their season-opening series against the White Sox – with a debuting Byron Buxton driving in a run on a fielder’s choice, Max Kepler delivering an RBI single and Josh Donaldson recording a sac fly to put the Twins up 3-0.
That set the stage for the first home run at Target Field this season, as Jorge Polanco launched a two-run blast into right field for a 5-0 advantage.

With a five-run lead in his pocket, Homer Bailey rebounded from a tough exhibition outing in Chicago to keep the Cardinals at bay with two earned runs over five innings to go along with two walks and four strikeouts.
Donaldson added an insurance run with his first home run as a Twin in the fifth inning and Sergio Romo pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his first save of the year,
The Twins (3-1) will go for the two-game sweep on Wednesday night when Rich Hill makes his Twins debut against Daniel Ponce de Leon.
