The Minnesota Gophers football team will be shorthanded when they host Rutgers for Saturday’s homecoming game.
Five members of the team have been served with restraining orders that bar their access to TCF Bank Stadium.
Ray Buford, KiAnte Hardin and Dior Johnson all were served with the temporary restraining orders Friday, while teammates Carlton Djam and Tamarion Johnson were served earlier this week.
According to FOX 9, the orders allow the players to remain in their campus apartments and attend class, but it blocks them from access to the stadium.
“It would not be appropriate for the University to comment on this matter to the extent it relates to University students,” said University of Minnesota spokesman Steven Henneberry in an email to GoMN. “The University reaffirms, however, that it will honor and comply with court orders.”
Four of the players were suspended in September amid a sexual assault investigation. However, following the investigation prosecutors chose not to file charges or make any arrests related to the investigation.
The Star Tribune notes the restraining orders were filed by a woman involved with football game-day operations at the stadium.
A hearing on the restraining orders has been set for 9 a.m. Tuesday.
