With the MLB entry draft set for Thursday, all 30 major league clubs are hoping to find the perfect player that will be a difference maker sooner than later.
The Twins pick fourth, with most mock drafts zeroing in on Texas high school star Kohl Stewart.
Since 1965, the Twins have selected 65 players in the first round, and naturally some have been better than others.
Among the five best (in no particular order):
1) Joe Mauer (2001), St. Paul kid headed to Cooperstown.
2) Chuck Knoblauch (1989), won World Series as a rookie.
3) Torii Hunter (1993), pretty good glove.
4) Glen Perkins (2004), current closer.
5) Byron Buxton (2012), future phenom.
The above is debatable, especially if you’re fond of players like Denard Span (2002), Ben Revere (2007) or Michael Cuddyer (1997).
The worst five? Also debatable.
