Richard Pitino and the Gophers men’s basketball team received a verbal commitment from a four-star recruit on Monday.
Tray Jackson, a 6-foot-8 combo forward from Detroit, Michigan, made his announcement on Twitter, saying he is “110 % committed.”

Jackson told 247 Sports that he got a really good vibe from the Gophers’ coaching staff, saying they didn’t bash any other college programs and he loved that Pitino hopes to turn him into the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2019-20.
He’s rated as the 94th best recruit in the country in the Class of 2019 by 247 Sports.
Although he’s from Detroit, Jackson plays for Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas, the same prep powerhouse that four-star guard Austin Crowley plays for. Crowley had the Gophers in his final three but recently committed to Vanderbilt.
Recruiting specialist Ryan Burns notes that Pitino has now landed at least one four-star recruit in each of his five seasons with the Gophers.
