Members of the 1987 World Series champion Twins were honored in a ceremony prior to the Twins-Tigers ballgame Saturday night at Target field. It was the 30th anniversary of that memorable year when the Twins became World champions.
During the ceremony Frank Viola, who won the MVP, said “I wasn’t the MVP, all my teammates were the MVP’s. It’s nice to have the award, but there is no way I could have done it without them.”
The whole ceremony was well put together by the Twins and lasted about 30 minutes.
But, perhaps my personal favorite touch-of-class the Twins put on the evening was bringing back the old “M” logo hat. Minnesota has exclusively worn the familiar (and original) “TC” logo style caps since 2009. However, the “M” is special to the 1987 club specifically because it was the first year they wore that logo on helmets and hats.
