Already with back-to-back rookie of the year winners on the roster, the Minnesota Lynx appear to be gearing up for another run at WNBA supremacy as they have agreed to terms on a contract with three-time All-Star guard Kayla McBride.
McBride told WSlam that she’ll ink a deal with the Lynx when the free-agent signing period officially opens on Monday.
“After talking to coach Reeve and the Minnesota staff, I know this is where I’m going to take my game to the next level,” McBride told WSlam. “And I know a lot of people are counting me out or doubting me.”
McBride averaged 12.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists with the Las Vegas Aces last last season. She was an All-Star with Vegas in 2017 and 2018, and in 2015 when she played for San Antonio.
Meanwhile, Howard Megdal of The Next reports the Lynx are in contract talks with veteran forward Aerial Powers. Powers is 27 years old and was averaging a career best 16.3 points per game for the Washington Mystics before she suffered a hamstring injury in 2020.

The Lynx return a talented roster that leading scorer and reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year Crystal Dangerfield, the 2019 Rookie of the Year Napheesa Collier, future Hall of Fame center Sylvia Fowles, talented third-year guard Damiris Dantas, veteran guard Odyssey Sims and Gopher great Rachel Banham.
That core group led the Lynx to a 14-8 regular season record before being swept by the eventual WNBA champion Seattle Storm in the playoff semifinals.
