Three construction firms delivered bids to the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority for the management contract for the new Vikings stadium, the Star Tribune reports.
The winning bidder will build the new stadium on the site of the old Metrodome.
One of the firms, Mortenson Construction, is based in Minneapolis. Mortenson was the general contractor for Target Field, TCF Bank Stadium, the Xcel Energy Center and Target Center, and has done work before for HKS, Inc., the architect of the Vikings stadium.
Also in the running is Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Hunt Construction, which has built nearly 50 professional sports venues, including 28 stadiums for Major League Baseball and NFL teams; and Skanska, AB, a Swedish firm that has built several NFL stadiums, including MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
The winning contractor will be announced in early February.
HKS on Friday named 18 subcontractors and individuals that will be working on the stadium, the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal reports.
The stadium is tentatively set to open in downtown Minneapolis in time for the 2016 NFL season.
