Make it 23 consecutive wins for the No. 2-ranked Golden Gophers (52-3) softball team after Friday’s 5-1 win over Northwestern in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals.
Sara Groenewegen was again dominant on the mound, throwing her second no-hitter of the season en route to the Gophers winning in shutout fashion for the 21st time this season. According to Big Ten Softball, it’s the first no-hitter in Big Ten Tournament history.
Groenewegen was 27-2 with a 0.60 ERA and 256 strikeouts before Friday’s game.
Minnesota awaits Illinois or Penn State in the tournament semifinals on Saturday.

The last team to beat the Gophers was Illinois, 4-3, on April 1.
