The NFL Draft is less than two-weeks away and NFL.com has been doing do-overs of recent drafts.
According to NFL Draft expert Lance Zierlein, the Vikings currently have three players who should have went in the first round in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Zierlein notes that Danielle Hunter should have went No. 3 overall; he pegged Erik Kendricks at No. 16 and Stefon Diggs at No. 24.
Hunter was originally drafted in Round 3, No. 88 overall; Kendricks went in Round 2, No. 45 and Diggs went even later in Round 5 at No. 146.
Hunter has quietly become one of the best defensive ends in the league registering 18.5 sacks in his first two NFL seasons.
At inside linebacker, Kendricks has made 142 tackles while securing 6.5 sacks in 25 career games.
Although he’s dealt with some injuries, Diggs has hauled in 136 passes in his two NFL seasons.
Yes, it’s fun to do redrafts, but give credit to Vikings general manager Rick Spielman for finding bonafide studs outside of the first round.
Minnesota doesn’t have a first-round pick in this year’s draft but they do have eight picks lined up. Plus given Spielman’s history to trade up, don’t be surprised if the Vikings make a splash on the opening night of the draft.
