The 2014 Prep Bowl will be played at TCF Bank Stadium, the Minnesota State High School League announced Monday.
Semifinal and championship games of the high school football state tournament are normally held inside the Dome, which will be demolished following the Vikings’ 2013 season.
State semifinal games in 2014 won’t be played at TCF Bank Stadium because the Gophers have home game that weekend.
The Prep Bowl will be played the week before Thanksgiving, with hopes of slightly better weather for the outdoor title games.
Where the 2015 state tournament games will be played is still up for debate because the Gophers have home games during both typical semifinal and Prep Bowl weekends.
The Pioneer Press reports that half the teams in the state could be left out of section playoffs to help speed up the season in 2015.
