This is pretty straight forward Wolves faithful.
We don’t remember what it’s like to be a part of the NBA playoffs anymore, so in this continuing series, we’ll live vicariously through the 2003-04 Minnesota Timberwolves, most likely once a week.
We came to you last week with the Wolves coming out victorious in their first-ever matchup with LeBron James, as well as some humorous footnotes out of that contest with Cleveland.
This week, Latrell Sprewell meets his former team for the first time.
NEW YORK 97, MINNESOTA 92: Coming off a drubbing at the hands of the Ron Artest and Reggie Miller-led Indiana Pacers the night before, the Wolves lost again in Latrell Sprewell’s first game against the Knicks after spending five years with New York.
Sprewell was 0-for-8 against Indiana, and followed up the putrid effort with a 2-for-11 performance against New York at Target Center.
A ragtag group of Knicks led by the aging Dikembe Mutumbo would shoot 52 percent from the field, while getting assists on 29 of their 36 field goals.
It would be the last time Minnesota would lose back-to-back games until early March.
The current day Wolves are just a half-game off the pace of the 2003-04 Wolves, as this loss dropped the 10-years-ago-squad to 8-7.
